For Indigenous people, the practice of healing and caregiving has been foundational to our culture from the earliest beginnings. On May 12th in Manitoba, we honour Indigenous nurses who carry on this role for First Nation people and all citizens.
“The last two years have been particularly trying and enough cannot be said about the resiliency demonstrated by the nurses who serve Southeast communities. In April, we gifted each of them with a star blanket to recognize their dedication throughout the pandemic, and the ongoing work they do as part of our health services team. To ours and all Indigenous nurses, miigwetch.”
