This statement is in response to an accusation made against Southeast Resource Development Council (SERDC) concerning operations at the Southeast Wellness Lodge.

We are aware that RCMP has recently confirmed it is investigating an alleged incident at the Wellness Lodge. SERDC is committed to the truth of this investigation and has been consistently and cooperatively communicating with authorities.

While the investigation continues, SERDC assures the communities served and the public that the investigation, at this stage, has not found any wrongdoing by the Wellness Lodge or its staff. Should we learn that an incident did in fact occur at the Wellness Lodge SERDC will promptly and proactively address it.

SERDC will continue to comply with security policies and legislation and be responsive to the information received from law enforcement and other officials. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, SERDC is committed to providing support to all who may be affected and is deeply concerned by this serious allegation.

The Wellness Lodge remains open to the community and will continue to offer cultural and other supports according to its mandate.  

SERDC assures that we and the Wellness Lodge are dedicated to the safety and security of everyone who visits or stays at the Lodge.
