Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 20, 2023 – Bradley and Verle Bushie of Poplar River First Nation are scheduled to arrive at The Forks in Winnipeg by canoe on June 21, 2023.
After the 2013 disappearance of the couple’s son, Bradden Bushie, the pair have been making this trip annually to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous men and boys (MMIMB).
Southeast Resource Development Council (SERDC), (a.k.a Southeast Tribal Council) operates a program to support and advocate for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, boys, men and two-spirit people (MMIWGBM2S). Poplar River First Nation is an SERDC member community and Erica Chatelain, the support provider for the MMIWGBM2S program, has been assisting the Bushies during their travel and will help accommodate their arrival.
Bradden Bushie was last seen at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the West Broadway area of Winnipeg. He was seen wearing a black shiny jacket, blue jeans, white and black runners and a carrying a backpack or cross shoulder bag.
